What’s happening right now
Foundation work is underway on the new Church.
Trenches for the wall footings have been excavated, and the building layout is now visible from above. At the same time, crews are setting tall rebar cages into the pier holes. These cages will be tied into the footings and then buried in concrete so the columns have a solid base.
Why this phase matters
This is the first part of the building that will stay in the ground for the life of the church.
The trenches are for continuous footings. Those footings run under the walls and spread the weight of the structure across the soil so the building does not settle unevenly. The vertical rebar cages go into the deeper pier holes. They become the skeleton of the columns that carry the heaviest loads: the roof, the larger rooms, and the points where walls meet.
Rebar and concrete work together. The steel gives the foundation tensile strength (it resists pulling and cracking). The concrete gives compressive strength (it resists crushing). Once both are in place and poured as one system, the building has a single, continuous base instead of separate pieces that can shift.
After the concrete is poured and cured, the crew can backfill, prepare the slab, and move above grade.
