What’s happening right now
The church’s footprint is now clear from the air.
Crews have set wooden formwork along the perimeter and interior walls. Those boards mark where the footings and foundation walls will be poured. Inside the pad, the layout of rooms is visible. A boxed pit with plumbing is in place, and underground pipes are being installed while the ground is still open.
Why this phase matters
Formwork is the mold. It holds the concrete in the exact shape and elevation called for in the plans. If the forms are off, the walls that sit on them will be off.
Underground plumbing has to go in now. Once the slab is poured, those lines are sealed under the floor. Getting them right at this stage avoids cutting concrete later.
Together, the forms, footings, and buried utilities become the permanent base of the building.
